April 4th 'Regional Revitalization Investment Fund Selection'
Commemorative Groundbreaking Ceremony for 'Opportunity Development Special Zone No. 1 Investment' Held

The groundbreaking ceremony for the 'Myodo Eco Energy Hub,' with a total project cost of 15.5 trillion won, was held on the morning of the 4th at the Sono Calm Hotel in Yeosu.


The ceremony commemorated the selection of the third project of the 'Myodo LNG Terminal Project' regional revitalization investment fund, worth 1.4 trillion won, and the first investment realization of the 'Myodo Hydrogen Industry Cluster Opportunity Development Special Zone.'

About 300 people attended the groundbreaking ceremony, including Woo Dong-gi, Chairman of the Local Era Committee, Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, Jeong Ki-myeong, Mayor of Yeosu, Kim Yoon-sang, 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Kang Seok-hoon, Chairman of the Korea Development Bank, Baek In-sook, Chairperson of the Yeosu City Council, provincial and city council members, corporate officials, and Myodo residents.


The event proceeded with congratulatory speeches from guests including Mayor Jeong Ki-myeong, a progress report on the project, a vision declaration, an on-site linked groundbreaking ceremony, and a site inspection.


Mayor Jeong Ki-myeong of Yeosu said in his welcoming address, "Myodo is the gateway of Yeosu connecting to Gwangyang and the center of the Gwangyang Bay that will lead the Yeosu Bay Renaissance," adding, "We will spare no administrative support to help Myodo leap forward as a future new industry hub."


Meanwhile, the Myodo Eco Energy Hub aims to foster new energy industries in the Yeosu-Gwangyang Bay area, where national industrial complexes are concentrated, by focusing on ▲energy clusters ▲green energy projects ▲establishing a global new energy business hub. The project’s goals are to reduce carbon emissions, revitalize the local economy, create jobs, and respond to regional extinction.
