The '2024 Gyeongbuk Yeongju Punggi Ginseng Festival' will be held for nine days from the 5th to the 13th in Yeongju, Korea's top ginseng production area.

The Yeongju Punggi Ginseng Festival is held every year during the ginseng harvest season, offering consumers the opportunity to purchase high-quality ginseng at affordable prices, thereby increasing consumer trust and presenting a variety of events.

With the theme 'Millennium Health, Punggi Ginseng, Found in Punggi!', the festival will take place at Namwoncheon in Punggi-eup, the main production area of Punggi Ginseng, and at the Ginseng Culture Popup Park. The festival will begin with a reenactment of the parade honoring Punggi Governor Ju Se-bung, who first started ginseng cultivation in Punggi, followed by special events such as the Bountiful Harvest Ritual and the Grand Ginseng Ceremony. In addition, a variety of experience programs, performances, and ginseng food offerings will continue the festival's reputation and popularity.

This year, the festival has been selected as an 'Honorary Cultural Tourism Festival' by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and as part of the Korea Tourism Organization's 'Regional Festival Readiness Improvement Project,' ensuring even more substantial and well-organized programs than last year.

At the festival venue, there will be daily experience events such as Madangnori Dendongeomeijeon, which tells local history and culture through performances, as well as activities to make Punggi Ginseng more delicious and familiar, including ▲Ginseng Liquor Making ▲Ginseng Peeling Contest ▲Find the Golden Ginseng ▲Ginseng Injeolmi Rice Cake Pounding, among others.

In addition, starting with the opening ceremony featuring Park Seojin, Gyeong Seoyeji, Hwang Minho and Minwoo brothers, and Youngji, the festival will offer a variety of cultural performances every day, including ▲Environmental Song Contest ▲Fusion Korean Traditional Music Band ▲Resident Self-Governing Clubs and Local Culture and Arts Performances ▲National Powerful Dance Festival ▲Sobaeksan Yeongju Punggi Ginseng Song Festival.

On the 9th, 'Kim Minji Nutritionist's One-Day Cooking Class' will be held, where participants can learn to make healthy and delicious dishes using newly developed menus featuring Punggi Ginseng.

During the festival period, not only Punggi but the entire Yeongju area will transform into a festival venue. Various related events such as the Yeongju Mayor's National Jokgu and Soccer Tournament, Yeongju Punggi Ginseng Cup Tennis Tournament, Gyeongbuk Governor's Marathon, and Sobaek Healing Walking Event will be held, creating a festive atmosphere throughout the city.

On the opening day of the festival, the '2024 Yeongju Museom Oenamudari Festival' will be held at Museom Village in Munsu-myeon, where visitors can enjoy the beautiful natural scenery of Museom along with reenactments of traditional weddings and funeral processions. In addition, a variety of experience programs are prepared, expected to attract great interest from tourists visiting Yeongju.

Punggi Ginseng, along with apples and Korean beef, has established itself as a major source of income representing the Yeongju region. In particular, as Punggi Ginseng exports have rapidly increased, the area has become a hub for processed ginseng foods and established itself as a global specialty product.
