On the 4th, Park Min-su, the 2nd Vice Minister of Health and Welfare, made these remarks during the opening statement at the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) meeting held at the Government Seoul Office in Jongno-gu, Seoul. He said, "The most important thing is to restore trust, and the first step toward this is dialogue," adding, "The government is confident that misunderstandings accumulated during the policy promotion process with the medical community will be sufficiently resolved through dialogue and consultation."

He continued, "We earnestly request the medical community once again to participate in the ruling and opposition medical council and the Special Committee on Medical Reform. Please join the dialogue without setting any preconditions or preliminary agendas."

He also said, "The government will also approach this with a more open and sincere attitude," adding, "We hope to come to the dialogue table as soon as possible to share candid thoughts about the future of our medical system and to join forces to resolve the situation."

He also requested participation in the supply and demand estimation committee for expanding the number of doctors. The supply and demand estimation committee is an expert body established to scientifically estimate the appropriate scale of medical personnel. It is planned to be composed so that experts recommended by supplier organizations constitute the majority. Recommendations for committee members will be accepted until the 18th of this month.

Vice Minister Park said, "The government has reviewed with the most open mind to find common ground with the medical community regarding the committee composition and discussion agenda," and added, "We ask the medical community to recommend members as well."

He further stated, "If the medical community presents scientific and rational measures, the committee can also discuss the medical school quota for 2026."

Meanwhile, regarding the support project for the structural transformation of tertiary general hospitals, which will commence this month, he explained, "It will serve as a catalyst for normalizing the medical delivery system by operating tertiary general hospitals centered on severe patients and strengthening cooperation with local hospitals and clinics," and added, "We will also accelerate improvements in the training environment to strengthen the status of residents as trainees."
