'Revitalizing Local Economy'... Gmarket Strengthens Domestic Travel Discounts in Partnership with Local Governments

Promotion in collaboration with Ulsan City until the 13th
Discount promotions also in southern Gangwon and Chungnam regions

Shinsegae Group-affiliated e-commerce platform Gmarket has launched a promotional campaign to capture domestic travel and accommodation demand.


Gmarket announced on the 4th that it is running the 'Where to Go This Fall? Ulsan Accommodation Special Offer' promotion in partnership with Ulsan City until the 13th. This promotion, held in conjunction with Ulsan City's '2024 Ulsan Industrial Festival,' offers special prices on accommodations in the Ulsan area. A discount of 20,000 KRW is provided for products priced over 70,000 KRW. Additionally, customers who purchase accommodation products on Gmarket and visit the 'Whale Retro Back to the 90’s Ulsan Woosung Supermarket' event booth at the 2024 Ulsan Industrial Festival will receive 'Trebeer Beer,' Korea's first-generation local craft beer, as a gift for the first 500 teams.


Throughout October, Gmarket will also run the 'Leisure Cut According to Taste: Gangwon Travel' promotion with the southern Gangwon region including ▲Taebaek City ▲Samcheok City ▲Yeongwol County ▲Jeongseon County. This campaign promotes leisure activities in Gangwon and offers discount coupons up to 80,000 KRW applicable to accommodation and travel products in the Gangwon area, along with a Gangwon travel certification event. There is also the 'Chungnam Travel Collection' promotion introducing autumn attractions in Chungnam. Until the 13th of this month, it highlights travel destinations such as Namdang Port and the Global BBQ Festival in Hongseong, Chungnam, and offers discounts on autumn travel destinations and accommodation products in Hongseong.

Gmarket is also participating in the government-supported project 'Accommodation Sale Festa,' aimed at revitalizing autumn travel in non-metropolitan areas. Until the 17th of next month, customers booking accommodations at domestic travel destinations excluding Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon regions will receive coupons worth up to 30,000 KRW. It is expected to create greater synergy when used together with domestic travel promotions conducted in cooperation with local governments.


A Gmarket representative said, "We are closely collaborating by participating as a partner in local government events that actively promote domestic travel to stimulate the domestic economy and provide discount benefits. Since travel has long been a major category, there is a strong customer base purchasing travel or accommodation products through Gmarket. Introducing new domestic travel products to them is also positive, so we will continue to take the lead in promoting local attractions."
