After Lee Seung-yeop (48) took over as manager, the Doosan Bears failed to advance to the semifinals for the second consecutive year, leading to boos demanding Lee Seung-yeop's resignation from the stands.

On the 3rd, Doosan lost 0-1 to the KT Wiz in the second game of the 2024 KBO League postseason Wild Card (WC) series held at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul. Doosan qualified for the WC as the 4th place team in the regular season but failed to win in the second game following a 0-4 loss in the first game, thus missing out on advancing to the semifinals. Although Doosan entered the Wild Card series with one win advantage as the 4th place team in this year's regular season, they lost the chance to advance to the semifinals, which could have been secured with just a draw. Since the introduction of the WC series in 2015, this is the first time that the 4th place team has failed to advance to the semifinals. Last year, Doosan also made it to the WC series as the 5th place team but suffered a come-from-behind defeat to the NC Dinos.

With the failure to reach the semifinals again this year following last year, Doosan fans expressed disappointment and anger. Especially after the game ended, when Manager Lee and the players lined up on the field, boos erupted. Some fans gathered around Jamsil Stadium chanting slogans demanding Lee's resignation. They stayed near the players' exclusive exit for over an hour after the game, shouting "Lee Seung-yeop out." They also sang the representative cheer song of the Samsung Lions, where Lee played during his active career, "Eldorado," inserting "Samsung's legend Lee Seung-yeop" and shouted for him to "go back to Samsung."

Immediately after the game, Manager Lee Seung-yeop bowed his head and said, "I feel depressed and heartbroken. I am very sorry." He continued, "I think I am still lacking. I apologize to the fans," and added, "The players worked really hard from February 1st to October 3rd. The players put in a lot of effort. I am sorry to the fans." Regarding the reasons for the failure, he analyzed, "There were many strikeouts in the two WC games, and we couldn't execute precise baseball during scoring opportunities," and "Especially, the lack of extra-base hits made the games difficult." He explained, "Since young players have not come up with starter-level skills, we had to rely on veterans like Kim Jae-ho, Kim Jae-hwan, Yang Seok-hwan, Heo Kyung-min, and Jung Soo-bin," and "There is a significant skill gap among backup players." He added, "Reducing that gap is necessary to become a strong team. It was a season that made me think about many things."

Meanwhile, the KT Wiz, who defeated the 4th place Doosan Bears in the Wild Card series and advanced to the semifinals, will start the 2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO semifinals at Jamsil Baseball Stadium from 2 p.m. on the 5th. The semifinals will be played in a best-of-five format, with the winner facing the Samsung Lions in the playoffs. The KBO announced on the 3rd that tickets for the semifinals will go on sale from 2 p.m. on the 4th. Ticket reservations will begin with the first game at 2 p.m. and continue at one-hour intervals until the fifth game at 6 p.m. Each person can reserve up to four tickets. Postseason tickets will be sold entirely by reservation, and any cancellations will be sold on-site starting two hours before the game begins.
