Uijeongbu Mayor Kim Dong-geun Completes 5km Course
Mayor Kim Dong-geun is taking a commemorative photo with participants at the "21st International Peace Marathon" hosted by Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the 3rd. Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) participated in the '21st International Peace Marathon' hosted by Gangnam-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Cho Seong-myeong), strengthening the friendship between the sister cities.
The marathon, held on the 3rd at Bongeunsa-ro in Gangnam-gu, was organized to help children suffering from war and famine and to pray for peace and harmony among humanity.
In this event, Mayor Kim Dong-geun and members of the city hall marathon club also participated, completing the 5 km course together in solidarity.
Since signing the sister city agreement last year, Uijeongbu City and Gangnam-gu have maintained active exchanges, including the Gangnam-gu Symphony Orchestra performance held at Uijeongbu Arts Center, exchange cooperation agreements, and the signing of a practical cooperation memorandum.
Building on participation in this marathon, the city plans to expand exchanges in various fields such as culture, education, and sports, promising more diverse benefits for the citizens of both cities.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun of Uijeongbu said, “I am very pleased and proud to participate in such a meaningful event with city hall employees,” adding, “Like the harmony this event represents, Uijeongbu City will continue to cooperate with Gangnam-gu and run toward a better future.”
