Dubai Chocolate Craze Continues... GS25-CU Launch 'Smore' Product

The convenience store industry, which quickly capitalized on Dubai chocolate, is now focusing on S'more chocolate.

GS25 announced on the 3rd that it will sell S'more chocolate in offline stores starting from the 7th of this month. S'more chocolate is a popular product in Europe, North America, and other regions. Recently, it has been introduced domestically through social networking services (SNS), gaining attention as the "second Dubai chocolate."

GS25 introduced that the product contains marshmallows and crackers inside the chocolate, offering a soft yet crispy texture. Prior to the offline store launch, it was pre-sold on the GS Retail integrated application 'Our Neighborhood GS' on the 24th of last month, achieving sales of over 1,300 units.

CU also launched 'Choco Marshmallow Pang,' a new product featuring S'more chocolate, priced in the 2,000 won range. CU described it as a premium dessert with handmade marshmallow cream on castella cake, coated with chocolate.

Earlier, in July, CU was the first in the convenience store industry to release a product that interpreted Dubai chocolate in a Korean style. Two weeks later, they introduced Dubai-style choco cookies, which received a positive response.

Within about three months of release, the two products recorded combined sales of 13 billion won and cumulative sales of 3.4 million units. Thanks to the popularity of the Dubai chocolate series, CU's cookie and chocolate product sales from July to September increased by 87.7% compared to the same period last year.

Kim Goni, MD (Merchandiser) of the Snack Food Team at BGF Retail, which operates CU, said, "We will closely monitor the domestic and international dessert markets and quickly introduce new trending products on SNS and other platforms."
