29 Awards Including 8 Individual Encouragement Prizes, 11 Special Selections, and 10 Honorable Mentions
At the 54th Korea Craft Competition, Gyeonggi Province was awarded the Excellence Award in the group category.
Hosted by the Cultural Heritage Administration and the Korea Federation of Craft Cooperatives, the Korea Craft Competition aims to promote the development of the craft industry by discovering and awarding outstanding crafts, as well as to support the export and market foundation of excellent craft products.
This year's competition, which evaluated creative crafts that combine beauty and commercial value based on traditional craft techniques and forms in fields such as wood lacquer, ceramics, metal, textiles, paper, and others, aligned with modern design trends, received 401 entries of selected works or higher from regional preliminaries, with 229 pieces selected as award winners.
Gyeonggi Province submitted 48 works that had won special selection or higher at the provincial competition held in July, achieving a total of 29 awards including 8 Encouragement Awards, 11 Special Selections, and 10 Honorable Mentions, earning the Excellence Award in the group category.
Heo Seung-beom, Director of the Economic Office, stated, “Gyeonggi Province will continue to make every effort to develop the craft industry,” and added, “We hope to contribute to creating even more outstanding works and promoting the beauty of Korean crafts to the world.”
The award ceremony and exhibition of winning works will be held in December at the Cheongju Cultural Factory.
