Uijeongbu-si Holds Kickoff Meeting for Research Service on Comprehensive Bus Improvement Measures

Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) held a kickoff briefing session for the "Bus Comprehensive Improvement Plan Execution Strategy Establishment Project" on the 2nd at the city hall situation room.

Mayor Kim Dong-geun, city council members, related officials, external experts, transportation company representatives, and transportation workers attended to share the current status and issues of Uijeongbu City's bus system, discuss reorganization directions, and gather various opinions.

Through this project, the city plans to develop measures to resolve congestion during commuting hours, address imbalances in public transportation conditions between zones, strengthen connectivity between new towns and old downtown areas, and improve linkage with other public transportation such as light rail transit.

Furthermore, the city intends to establish a comprehensive bus improvement plan responding to upcoming changes in transportation infrastructure, including the extension of Line 7, the opening of the Seoul Metropolitan Area Express Train (GTX) line, and new town developments.

The city will carry out this research project until the first half of 2025, actively collecting citizens' opinions through public hearings and briefings, and finalize the comprehensive bus improvement plan based on expert consultations.

Mayor Kim Dong-geun stated, "This project will be an important foundation not only for reorganizing the bus system but also for building a sustainable transportation system aligned with future changes in transportation infrastructure," adding, "We will do our best to enable citizens to use more convenient and efficient public transportation."
