Over 75,000 Households Enrolled... Reduced Over 9,000 Tons Last Year
Incentives Given to Over 23,000 People... Up to 100,000 Won

Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) is operating the Carbon Point System to reduce greenhouse gases at home and achieve a carbon-neutral city by 2045.
According to Seo-gu, Gwangju on the 2nd, currently about 75,000 households in Seo-gu have joined the Carbon Neutral Point System to participate in energy saving. In the past year, 19,096 tons of greenhouse gases (CO₂) were reduced, and incentives were paid to 23,021 people.
The Carbon Neutral Point System is a program that provides cash incentives based on the reduction rate when households, schools, and commercial facilities reduce their usage of electricity, water, city gas, and other energy sources. Incentives can be received twice a year, in June and December, up to a maximum of 100,000 KRW or as Green Card points, depending on the average energy reduction amount.
In particular, Seo-gu operated a Carbon Point System registration booth at the Resource Circulation Day event held last month at Sangmu Citizen's Park, and plans to operate a booth at the Gwangju Seochang Eulssae Festival to be held on the 17th.
Additionally, Seo-gu, together with members of the Green Leader Council, is visiting 26 locations including apartment complexes and commercial facilities within the district to promote and register for the Carbon Neutral Point System, and is also conducting carbon reduction campaigns focusing on places with high foot traffic such as Gwangcheon Terminal.
Park Jongsuk, head of the Seo-gu Green Leader Council, said, “For the realization of a carbon-neutral city by 2045, residents' actions are most important, so we ask for much interest and participation in the Carbon Neutral Point System.”
