"Paying Taxes and Holding Dollar Deposits"…Single YouTuber Reacts Strongly to 'Free Rider' Malicious Comments

Single Life YouTuber Shin Aromi
"Being Unmarried Doesn't Mean Not Saving Money"

Shin Aromi (37), a YouTuber with 210,000 subscribers, responded to comments criticizing her decision to remain single.

On the 1st, Shin posted a video on her Instagram capturing comments left on her page. One comment read, "Make sure to prepare well for old age. You shouldn't freeload on the taxes paid by my children."

In response, Shin explained, "I said I live alone, not that I don't earn money," adding, "To ease your worries, I work harder than anyone else, pay my taxes diligently, and invest in U.S. and domestic stocks to prepare for retirement. I also have a U.S. dollar time deposit."

She continued, "I own a home, but just in case, I maintain a housing subscription savings account. I also have pension insurance that matured after 10 years of payments, one actual expense insurance, two cancer insurances, and I consistently engage in other financial investments." She pointed out, "Just because I am unmarried doesn't mean I don't prepare for old age," and "Being single doesn't mean I don't save money."

Previously, Shin gained attention as a YouTuber who expressed happiness and fulfillment in her single life. She shares various content such as travel, yoga, and fitness, and her choice to remain single has been a topic of discussion. In an interview with AFP News Agency, she said, "Not getting married is the greatest achievement of my life," and "I have never considered becoming a good wife, mother, and building my own family as my life's biggest goal."

Regarding criticism of her choice to remain single, she remarked, "Married people post pictures of their children and share happy married life moments, and no one criticizes that. But when I say I am happy, people strongly deny it and think, 'That can't be true.'"

She emphasized, "People who have children make that choice not for the future of humanity but for their own happiness. People who live alone also choose their lives aiming for happiness, and this should be respected." AFP reported, "Shin found true happiness without seeking what is considered essential in Korea: a Seoul apartment, a high-income job, or a spouse."

However, last month during the Chuseok holiday, she faced criticism for allegedly mocking married people by posting a video titled 'This is what happens during Chuseok if you can't get married (the reality of an old maid),' showing herself traveling abroad.
