Joguk Innovation Party files complaint against Democratic Party's Ju Cheol-hyun for "defamation by false facts"

The Jeonnam Provincial Party of the National Innovation Party has filed a complaint against Assemblyman Joo Cheol-hyun, who is both a Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party and the Jeonnam Provincial Party Chairman, on charges of defamation due to false information.

On the 2nd, the Jeonnam Provincial Party of the National Innovation Party announced that it had filed a complaint against Assemblyman Joo on charges of false information dissemination and defamation by specifying false facts.

According to the National Innovation Party, on the 30th of last month, Assemblyman Joo mentioned at the party's Supreme Council meeting that Jang Hyun, the National Innovation Party's candidate for mayor of Yeonggwang County, "did not prepare a single-room lodging under his own name," "did not report even a single rental right," and raised suspicions of violating the Political Funds Act through an unusual monthly rent contract or free provision. The National Innovation Party's position is that these remarks constitute false information dissemination and defamation.

The Jeonnam Provincial Party of the National Innovation Party stated, "Assemblyman Joo could have verified the facts through the Democratic Party nomination documents submitted by candidate Jang in the past, but he spread one-sided false information with the intent to cause Jang's defeat," adding, "Assemblyman Joo deliberately provided incorrect information to voters to negatively influence the election."

Meanwhile, the complaint battle between the Democratic Party and the National Innovation Party is intensifying over this by-election. On the 27th of last month, the Democratic Party filed a complaint with the police for defamation of the party after candidate Jang stated on the YouTube broadcast 'Kim Eo-jun's News Factory' that "the Democratic Party primary was unfair."
