Highly Rated for Improving Health Rights of Disabled People through Customized Rehabilitation Integrated Services and Support for Social Activity Participation ▲ Formation of Community Rehabilitation Council ▲ Activation of Home Rehabilitation Services ▲ Selected as Disabled Project Mentor Health Center for 5 Consecutive Years and Various Efforts

Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has been working to improve the health status of local people with disabilities and support the social reintegration of those with early to moderate disabilities under the campaign slogan "Inclusive City, Welfare Together," one of the pledges of the 8th local government administration.

In recognition of these efforts, the district was selected as an "Excellent Health Center in Seoul" in the "2024 Disabled Health Management Project Evaluation" hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and received a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare.

The district received high praise for contributing to the improvement of the health rights of people with disabilities through rehabilitation services and support for social activity participation that reflect the needs of project beneficiaries.

First, the district formed a "Community Rehabilitation Council" involving both public and private sectors, sharing the expertise of committee members and local resources to provide a one-stop integrated rehabilitation service.

The council continuously identifies project beneficiaries and supports customized health-medical-welfare services through quarterly case meetings.

Since 2020, for five consecutive years, the district has been selected as a "Mentor Health Center for the Seoul Disabled Health Management Project," recognized as a model case for community-centered rehabilitation projects.

As a mentor, the district has provided advice and site visits to mentee health centers for projects aimed at improving the health of people with disabilities, strengthening mutual exchange and cooperation.

Additionally, the district actively promoted the "Visiting Rehabilitation Service" through health branch offices. It also operates early adaptation programs that enhance medical accessibility for people with brain lesions and physical disabilities who have difficulty moving, helping them return to daily life.

In 2023, the district also won an excellence award in the national local government evaluation of welfare projects for people with disabilities. It received the highest score among Seoul’s autonomous districts for policies aimed at eliminating care blind spots for single-person households with disabilities and improving mobility rights for people with disabilities.

Mayor Park Jun-hee said, "I am pleased that our efforts to support the healthy lives of people with disabilities as members of the local community and to live together have been well recognized." He added, "We will continue to provide various services that help people with disabilities rehabilitate and participate in society so they can return to daily life."
