The 2024 Gyeongnam Goseong Dinosaur World Expo (hereinafter referred to as the Dinosaur Expo) kicked off with a spectacular opening on the 2nd at Danghangpo Tourist Site in Goseong-gun.
This year’s expo, themed “Dinosaurs and Me,” will offer visitors of all ages an unforgettable experience over 33 days through a variety of exhibitions, hands-on activities, and performances.
The Goseong Cultural Tourism Foundation, which is hosting the expo, announced that the opening ceremony was held with more than 150 key figures in attendance, including County Governor Lee Sanggeun and National Assembly member Jung Jomsik, marking the start of the 33-day journey.
The NH Nonghyup Gyeongnam Headquarters also sponsored Goseong rice worth 10 million won to be provided to visitors of the Dinosaur Expo.
After the opening ceremony, major guests toured the venue and enjoyed the parade, circus performances, and generative AI dinosaur experiences.
At the opening ceremony, Governor Lee stated, “This Dinosaur Expo is an important event that not only revitalizes the local economy but also widely promotes the cultural value of Goseong-gun. As it is the first expo prepared by the Goseong Cultural Tourism Foundation, it holds even greater significance. A variety of content has been prepared for everyone to enjoy, so I hope you will join us for this special 33-day journey.”
The expo will run for a total of 33 days until November 3, featuring daily performances, exhibitions, and hands-on programs. In particular, the main attraction, the dinosaur parade, will showcase a spectacular procession with professional actors and parade carts, offering visitors vibrant and dynamic moments.
Additionally, new programs such as the Dinosaur Live Show, street performances, circus shows, and LP cafe will further enrich the expo, while various initiatives, including the distribution of Goseong Love gift certificates, will be operated to help revitalize the local economy.
Meanwhile, having established itself as a representative local festival, the Dinosaur Expo began in 2006 as Korea’s first natural history expo and has since been held seven times in Goseong, attracting more than 7.5 million visitors.
