World No. 1 female golfer Nelly Korda (USA) and 2024 Paris Olympic gold medalist Lydia Ko (New Zealand) will compete on the domestic stage.
The organizing committee of the LPGA Tour BMW Ladies Championship announced on the 2nd that "the two players will participate in the tournament held in Korea." The tournament will take place over four days starting from the 17th at the Seowon Hills Course in Paju, Gyeonggi Province. It is the only LPGA Tour event in Korea. The total prize money is $2.2 million, with the winner's prize being $330,000.
Korda is a powerhouse. She has swept up six wins this year, including the major Chevron Championship. She has confirmed her participation in the domestic tournament for the second consecutive year following last year. Lydia Ko, who secured her LPGA Hall of Fame induction with her Paris Olympic gold medal, aims for the top spot in this tournament for the first time in two years since 2022. She is on an upswing, having recently won back-to-back titles at the last major, the AIG Women's Open, and the Kroger Queen City Championship.
In addition to the two players, all this year's major queens will participate, including defending champion Minjee Lee (Australia), KPMG Women's PGA Championship winner Hee Young Yang, U.S. Women's Open champion Yuka Saso, and Amundi Evian Championship winner Ayaka Furue (all from Japan). Shin Ji-ae, who holds the record for the most wins in Korean golf history with a total of 64 victories, as well as national representatives Su-min Oh and Hyo-jin Yang, will also participate as invited players.
