Chuncheon-si Supports Veterinary Treatment Costs for Socially Vulnerable Groups' Pets

Chuncheon City, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Mayor Yuk Dong-han) announced on the 2nd that it will recruit beneficiaries for the 2024 support project for veterinary expenses for pets of socially vulnerable groups until the 18th. The support project for veterinary expenses for pets of socially vulnerable groups is being promoted to protect pets raised by socially vulnerable individuals.

According to Chuncheon City, 113 low-income residents received support for veterinary expenses last year. This year, the support scale is 120 people, and the target beneficiaries are low-income residents such as basic livelihood security recipients and near-poverty groups registered as residents in Chuncheon.

The support amount is up to 200,000 KRW per person and can be used for regular veterinary expenses including vaccinations or for purchasing pet food. Additionally, veterinary expenses for 2024 can be retroactively applied for and claimed.

A Chuncheon City official said, “We expect this project to alleviate the economic burden on low-income pet owners and contribute to animal welfare.”
