[Correction and Rebuttal] ‘Jo Hee-yeon, Seoul Superintendent of Education, Counter-Sued by Parents Over 'Mass Malicious Complaints'’ Article Related

Our newspaper reported on May 29th in the article titled ‘Cho Hee-yeon, Seoul Superintendent of Education, Counter-sued by Parents Filing Multiple Malicious Complaints’ that a parent who filed multiple malicious complaints had sued Cho Hee-yeon, Seoul Superintendent of Education, on charges of false accusation.

However, upon fact-checking, it was revealed that the person who was reported to the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education on November 28, 2023, was not the parent but their child, meaning that the person who sued Superintendent Cho for false accusation was the child.

The parent stated, "In February 2023, my child was elected as the vice president of the student council, and although all election rules and guidelines were followed, a decision was made to postpone the announcement and declare the position vacant. The school forced the nullification of the election results, so I filed a complaint to verify the facts. Furthermore, contrary to the reports as of August 2023, I filed one false accusation complaint against the principal, four administrative appeals, fourteen information disclosure requests (covering 178 items), and nine complaints through the National Sinmungo system. My child was re-elected through a re-election held in March 2023," the parent informed us.

This statement is based on the mediation by the Press Arbitration Commission and reflects the agreement reached between both parties.
