Conference Held to Commemorate the 1st Anniversary of the Enforcement of the National Strategic Technology Special Act
On the 2nd, the Ministry of Science and ICT held the '1st Anniversary Conference of the Enforcement of the Special Act on National Strategic Technologies' at the JW Marriott Hotel in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
The conference was held to commemorate the first anniversary of the enforcement of the Special Act on Fostering National Strategic Technologies and to present the determination to secure scientific and technological sovereignty and future growth agendas in response to changes in economic security-related trends. About 200 experts from industry, academia, and research, including Minister of Science and ICT Yang Sang-im, CEO of CJ Bioscience Cheon Jong-sik, President of the Institute for National Security Strategy Han Seok-hee, and President of Pohang University of Science and Technology Kim Sung-geun, attended the event.
The event was conducted in two parts: Part 1 was an Innovation Forum, and Part 2 consisted of sessions by divisions. The divisional sessions involved detailed discussions under two major themes: the Sharing of Achievements in the Three Major Game-Changer Technologies (hereinafter referred to as the Technology Division) and Future Economic Security and Supply Chain Strategies (hereinafter referred to as the Policy Division).
Minister of Science and ICT Yang Sang-im emphasized, “In a situation where competition for technological supremacy is intensifying and the blocization phenomenon in technology, economy, and security is becoming more solid, we must secure strategic assets called ‘super-gap technologies’ centered on the 12 national strategic technologies.”
