Dobong-gu, Changdo Elementary School, and Others Ensure Pedestrian Safety with Road Expansion

Sidewalk Expansion and Maintenance Work at Two Child Protection Zones Including Changdo Elementary School

Dobong-gu (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok) has taken steps to create a safe walking environment in the area.

The first initiative was to start renovating the school zones. Construction began targeting the areas around Changdo Elementary School and Changwon Elementary School, which had frequently received complaints from students, parents, and nearby residents.

In the area around Changdo Elementary School, sidewalk expansion work was carried out. The sidewalk width was increased from 1.5m to 2.5~3.0m, and the uneven sidewalks caused by tree root upheaval were repaired. Additionally, utility poles and streetlights that obstructed pedestrian movement were relocated.

The sidewalk expansion project is aimed at reorganizing the space from being car-centered to pedestrian-centered by reducing the lane width and expanding the sidewalk width to improve the walking environment for pedestrians.

In the area around Changwon Elementary School, sidewalk maintenance was conducted. New sidewalk blocks were paved, and curbstones and other elements were repaired.

Going forward, the district will prioritize construction in areas urgently needing improvement to resolve safety accidents and inconvenience for vulnerable pedestrians.
