Russia condemned Israel's airstrikes on Lebanon and urged Israel to refrain from escalating the conflict.
On the 30th (local time), according to major foreign media, Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, stated at a briefing, "Russia condemns the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah by Israel's airstrikes last week." He added, "Such actions have greatly destabilized the regional situation," and "We assess that the risk of a large-scale war breaking out in the Middle East has become extremely high."
He also said, "Indiscriminate bombings of residential areas in Lebanon have led to a tremendous number of casualties and will inevitably cause a humanitarian disaster similar to that in the Gaza Strip," expressing "deep concern" on behalf of Russia.
Anatoly Viktorov, the Russian ambassador to Israel, also called on Israel to immediately cease hostile actions in Lebanon. Through Russian local media, Ambassador Viktorov urged, "We call on Israel to immediately stop hostile actions and strive to resolve the situation peacefully and politically," warning, "Otherwise, serious consequences will befall all regional parties."
