Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 30th that it successfully held the 'Children's Rights Education with Actress Shin Ae-ra' on the 27th at the Dasan Hall of City Hall for Namyangju citizens, social welfare facility workers, and public officials.
In this education session, invited instructor actress Shin Ae-ra gave a lecture on △ the four major rights of children under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (survival, protection, development, participation) △ prejudices and understanding regarding adoption and orphanages △ support and development directions.
Hong Ji-seon, Deputy Mayor of Namyangju City, said, "To create a society where children's rights are respected, the interest of all citizens is necessary," and added, "I hope this children's rights education will be an opportunity to reconsider the basic rights and protection that children have as human beings."
Meanwhile, the city signed a certification agreement with UNICEF in July to become a child-friendly city so that children can grow up healthy and happy. Going forward, the city plans to put more effort into obtaining child-friendly city certification by launching a Children's Participation Committee and holding a proclamation ceremony to promote the creation of a child-friendly city.
