Uijeongbu-si, Finalizing Future Railway Network Plan

'Rail Network Efficiency Improvement Plan Preliminary Feasibility Study Service' 2nd Interim Report Meeting Held

Uijeongbu-si, Finalizing Future Railway Network Plan Kim Dong-geun, Mayor of Uijeongbu, is conducting an interim report meeting on the "Rail Network Efficiency Improvement Pre-Feasibility Study" at the city hall's medium conference room on the 30th.

Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) held a mid-term briefing session for the "Pre-feasibility Study on Railway Network Efficiency Improvement" project on the 30th in the city hall's medium conference room.

This project was prepared for a comprehensive review of the future railway network construction in Uijeongbu City. The main contents include discovering new lines such as the extension of Line 8 and reviewing measures to improve the efficiency of the existing railway network.

This was the second briefing session following the one held in March, attended by 15 people including Mayor Kim Dong-geun, Uijeongbu City Council member Oh Beom-gu, railway policy advisory group members, and heads of related departments.

The attendees listened to the project company's analysis of each route and engaged in a heated discussion on prioritizing the construction of the future railway network.

In particular, various alternative route economic analyses were presented regarding the optimal route plan for the Line 8 extension, which the city is focusing on, the shared use plan for the Metropolitan Area Express Railway (GTX) Line F, and the light rail circular line.

Following the city's proposal in May to include the passage of GTX Line F through the eastern area of Uijeongbu and the first phase of the project in the "5th National Railway Network Construction Plan," the city plans to promote the inclusion of new projects such as the Line 8 extension in the government's upper-level railway plans, including the "5th Metropolitan Transportation Implementation Plan," scheduled for the second half of the year.

Before submitting the government proposal, an explanatory meeting will be held for citizens in October to share railway policies such as the future railway network plan prepared through the project and to gather opinions. Additionally, after going through procedures such as consultations with related organizations, the city plans to propose the inclusion in the upper-level plans in the second half of the year and continuously respond thereafter.

Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, "We will design railway policies together with citizens to establish the foundation for railway network construction and reflect them in the government's upper-level plans," adding, "I ask everyone to do their best until the end so that citizens' opinions can be heard through the explanatory meeting and the prioritization can be reasonably made."
