Agreement Ceremony at Busan Bank Headquarters on September 30
BNK Busan Bank (President Bang Seongbin) has joined hands with Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) Busan-Ulsan Headquarters (Director Lee Kyungyun) to respond to climate change and create a sustainable future.
BNK Busan Bank signed a business agreement with Korea Electric Power Corporation Busan Ulsan Headquarters to practice carbon neutrality and energy saving.
On the 30th, Busan Bank signed a business agreement with KEPCO Busan-Ulsan Headquarters at its headquarters to promote joint projects for carbon neutrality and energy reduction practices.
Through this agreement, Busan Bank will provide various financial benefits to citizens who participate in KEPCO's "Energy Cashback" program, helping to encourage voluntary energy saving and increase consumer convenience.
"Energy Cashback" is a national participatory energy-saving initiative designed to raise awareness of household energy conservation and reduce electricity bills. If a household reduces its electricity usage by more than 3%, a certain amount is deducted from the following month's bill. Citizens can sign up through the "KEPCO Housing Energy Cashback" or "KEPCO ON" websites.
Busan Bank will hold a two-month event from October 1 to the end of November, offering up to 30,000 KRW in cashback per person depending on the number of transactions for customers participating in "Energy Cashback" who use eco-friendly credit (check) cards such as the BNK Busan Bank Green Card, Myzone Green Check Card, or Eodirodeun Check Card to purchase eco-friendly products at Ecomoney-affiliated stores.
Additionally, customers who join Busan Bank's ESG financial product "Low Carbon Practice Savings" will receive a special additional preferential interest rate exclusively for Energy Cashback participants, on top of the maximum preferential rate of 0.4%p provided for low-carbon practices. This event will be held consecutively.
Kang Seokrae, Head of Business Strategy Division at Busan Bank, said, "Due to recent climate change, we have heard that this year's unprecedented heatwave has significantly increased household cooling demand compared to previous years. We will continue to create various citizen-participatory ESG activities with KEPCO to overcome the energy crisis."
Busan Bank obtained the international standard "Energy Management System (ISO50001)" certification for energy management in 2022 and has been renewing its certification annually through follow-up audits. In March of this year, it became the first in the banking sector to join the "Go Green Plus Service," which uses sustainable aviation fuel to reduce greenhouse gas emissions generated indirectly during logistics transportation, actively promoting eco-friendly energy policies.
