Jeollanam-do announced on the 30th that 20 agricultural and marine food export companies from Jeonnam participated in the LA Korean Festival, the world's largest Korean festival, receiving great response.

At this year's LA Korean Festival Agricultural and Marine Expo, Jeonnam showcased traditional foods such as jangryu (fermented sauces), hangwa (traditional Korean sweets), and sikhye (sweet rice drink), as well as agricultural and marine products like rice, gim (seaweed), miyeok (sea mustard), and shrimp, continuing a streak of sold-out success. This demonstrated the strength of Jeonnam as the center of K-FOOD.

The United States is Jeonnam's second-largest export market for agricultural and marine food products after Japan, recording exports worth $93.58 million, including gim, beverages, and traditional jangryu. Compared to the same period last year, this represents a record increase of 33.8%, solidifying Jeonnam's position as a representative of South Korea's agricultural and marine food industry.

The LA Korean Festival, which began in 1974, is the largest Korean festival held overseas.

The 51st LA Korean Festival, which opened on the 26th (local time), was held over four days at LA Seoul International Park. The event featured a variety of attractions, food, and experiences including the Agricultural and Marine Expo, Korean food booths, fashion shows, taekwondo demonstrations, parades, and K-pop performances, promoting Korean culture and traditions within the Korean-American community and fostering community harmony.

At the opening ceremony of the LA Korean Festival, Park Chang-hwan, Jeonnam's Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs, said, “Jeonnam is the birthplace of K-FOOD, boasting the most authentic Korean flavors,” adding, “We hope people felt the nostalgic taste and warmth of their homeland through Jeonnam's agricultural and marine food products.”
