Providing Diverse Learning Opportunities at Shared Schools Utilizing Local Resources
On the 30th, Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced that the 'Yongin Media Center' in Dongbaek-dong, Giheung-gu, and the 'Suji Environmental Education Center' in Jukjeon-dong, Suji-gu, have been designated by the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education as base activity spaces for the 'Yongin Mirai Shared School.'
The Yongin Mirai Shared School is the Yongin regional brand of the Gyeonggi Shared School, an educational platform that provides various learning opportunities by utilizing Yongin's abundant local resources. When the city provides facilities designated as base activity spaces, the Office of Education supports customized education reflecting the needs of schools, students, and out-of-school youth.

On the same day, Mayor Lee Sang-il of Yongin received the certification plaque for the base activity space from Kim Hee-jung, Director of the Yongin Office of Education, at the Yongin Media Center. The Yongin Media Center was selected in the Office of Education's environment improvement project contest and will receive 5 million won in project funds to purchase educational furniture and equipment. The plaque for the Suji Environmental Education Center is scheduled to be delivered on the 2nd of next month.
Earlier, on the 27th, Mayor Lee signed a business agreement in his office with the Gyeonggi Yongin Office of Education to activate the operation of the 'Yongin Mirai Shared School.' The agreement includes provisions for both organizations to support educational activities for the operation of shared school programs and to establish a cooperative system by linking human and material resources to nurture talents with future capabilities. Additionally, the city will actively cooperate in discovering additional base activity spaces, and the Office of Education will strive to maintain the operation of these spaces through environment improvements.
Mayor Lee stated, "We will actively support the shared school so that it can provide students with customized educational programs through various experiences beyond the school curriculum."
