President Yoon Suk-yeol received an audit report on the selection process of Hong Myung-bo as the head coach of the national soccer team on the 30th, which revealed procedural issues, and instructed to "clearly uncover the truth behind the suspicions."

On the afternoon of the same day, President Yoon gave these orders after receiving the audit results on the Korea Football Association's national team coach selection from Minister Yoo In-chon of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism at the Yongsan Presidential Office, according to a written briefing by presidential spokesperson Jeong Hye-jeon.

Minister Yoo's audit report included the fact that the selection of the national soccer team coach was not carried out according to regulations, resulting in procedural problems.

Upon receiving the report, President Yoon said, "The national team should be a source of pride for the people of the Republic of Korea," and added, "Especially, the selection of the head coach, who is the commander of the soccer team that receives great interest and love from the public, must be conducted fairly and responsibly from the very beginning."

He further ordered, "The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, which has supervisory responsibility over the Korea Football Association, must clearly uncover the truth behind the various suspicions and prepare definite improvement measures to correct the wrong practices on the ground."

Earlier, Coach Hong appeared at a meeting of the National Assembly's Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee on the 24th and said, "There seems to have been an administrative error at the final stage of the appointment process, but overall, the procedure appears to have been conducted properly," and added, "I have no intention of resigning over this issue."
