Gyeonggi Northern Fire Department Launches Nation's First Resident-Participatory Disaster and Safety Media Production Team The Northern Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters has decided to operate the nation's first disaster and safety media production team involving residents. On the 30th, they held the launch ceremony for the "Resident 119 Disaster and Safety Media Production Team" in the main conference room.

The Northern Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters has become the first in the nation to operate a disaster and safety media production team involving local residents. On the 30th, they held the launch ceremony for the ‘Resident 119 Disaster and Safety Media Production Team’ in the main conference room.

The production team members, recruited since the end of August, were selected from Gyeonggi residents with media-related experience and capabilities. Applicants ranged in age from their teens to their 60s, and after document screening and phone interviews, 12 members were finally chosen. Following the launch ceremony, the selected members toured the comprehensive situation room and the 119 Safety Center, and received fire safety promotion training from Fire Lieutenant Kim Chansu, the operator of the Northern Fire Headquarters’ official YouTube channel, Ankkaenam. Media content production training was also provided by instructor Gumi-sook from the Gyeonggi Viewer Media Center.

The media production team members will create video content themed around ‘Everyday and Lifestyle Safety Accidents and Disasters’ through the end of this year. On the 25th, three organizations?the Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters, the Gyeonggi Viewer Media Center, and D’Live TV Co., Ltd.?signed a business agreement to provide expert knowledge and technical training necessary for video production to ensure the successful launch of the media production team and promote residents’ daily safety. This support aims to assist with practical technical challenges in topic selection and video production, and to effectively convey the importance of lifestyle safety from the citizens’ perspective.

The Northern Fire and Disaster Headquarters explained that the production team was launched to present a new paradigm of fire safety promotion where residents directly create content, and to facilitate genuine communication and empathy regarding fire safety policies.

Director of Prevention Kwon Seon-wook said, “We have high expectations for the role of the members who will fulfill residents’ right to safety information through video content created by the residents themselves,” adding, “We hope that more friendly and useful safety content will be discovered and that a framework for ‘fire safety promotion’ involving direct resident participation in production will be established.”

The media production team, which raises awareness of the importance of ‘everyday safety’ through the eyes and hearts of citizens, is nicknamed ‘MSG (Media Safe Guard)119.’ Like MSG, which enhances the flavor of food, the members’ intention is to deliver the ‘taste of a safe and happy life’ to residents.

The lifestyle-oriented safety information about disasters and 119 fire safety produced by these ‘Safety MSGs’ will be broadcast through D’Live TV and YouTube channels after selecting outstanding works.
