The prosecution has reportedly conducted a search and seizure of former People Power Party lawmaker Kim Youngsun and Myung Taegyun, who are suspected of being involved in candidate nomination interference during the 22nd National Assembly election.
According to the legal community, the Criminal Division 4 of the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office in Gyeongnam carried out search and seizure operations on the morning of the 30th at the residences of former lawmaker Kim and Myung, as well as the office of a public opinion polling company known to be operated by Myung, on charges including violations of the Political Funds Act.
It is also reported that the home of Mr. A, who was in charge of accounting for former lawmaker Kim, was included in the search targets.
Previously, in December last year, the Gyeongnam Election Commission filed a complaint with the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office against Mr. A, the accounting manager for former lawmaker Kim, on suspicion of violating the Political Funds Act, and requested an investigation into five people, including former lawmaker Kim and Myung, related to the expenditures of political funds.
