Kakao Mobility Unveils 'Autumn Foliage Travel Map' Based on Mobility Data

Kakao Mobility announced on the 30th that it has released the 'Autumn Foliage Travel Map' based on Kakao Navi data in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Organization to celebrate the autumn foliage season.

The Autumn Foliage Travel Map is a map containing information on nationwide foliage spots based on Kakao Navi’s movement data. It introduces 27 foliage travel destinations nationwide, with three locations selected from each of the nine metropolitan cities and provinces. The selection criteria were places where the number of navigation users surged compared to the same period last year during the foliage season. According to Kakao Navi data analysis, these spots saw an average 7.7-fold increase in navigation users compared to the previous month during last year’s foliage season.

The representative foliage spots in each metropolitan city and province include ▲Ganwoljae (Ulsan Ulju) ▲Hwadam Forest (Gyeonggi Gwangju) ▲Bangyeri Ginkgo Tree (Gangwon Wonju) ▲Bobaljae Observatory (Chungbuk Danyang) ▲Sinseong-ri Reed Field (Chungnam Seocheon) ▲Jeoksangsan (Jeonbuk Muju) ▲Suncheonman Wetland (Jeonnam Suncheon) ▲Gyeongbuk Millennium Forest Garden (Gyeongbuk Gyeongju) ▲Saebyeol Oreum (Jeju).

The Autumn Foliage Travel Map includes not only tourist information and photos for each destination but also data such as 'Number of Navi Users by Day of the Week' during last year’s foliage period and 'Top 3 Recommended Places to Visit After Viewing Foliage' to help users plan their travel routes.

According to Kakao Navi data, the number of navigation users to the 27 foliage destinations was on average about twice as high on weekends compared to weekdays. After visiting foliage spots, the places users moved to mainly included local landmarks, popular restaurants, and cafes.

The Autumn Foliage Travel Map can be accessed via the Kakao T and Kakao Navi apps, as well as 'Korea Tourism Organization’s Korea Travel Online' website. From the banner and popup windows within the apps, users can access the foliage travel map page where they can receive Kakao Navi navigation services to foliage spots and nearby destinations, and save each spot and recommended places as favorites.

Additionally, users can check transportation options and travel times for each destination through Kakao T’s integrated search function. Transportation and activity services such as trains, leisure, tickets, and rental cars can also be booked directly through Kakao T.

Park Sang-hyun, Head of Marketing at Kakao Mobility, said, "We will continue to develop various content through the analysis of accumulated movement data and collaborate with various travel industry stakeholders such as the Korea Tourism Organization to contribute to the revitalization of domestic tourism and regional economic development."
