Participation in 11 Events Including Leather Craft, Supporting Achievement and Confidence for Students with Disabilities
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 30th that 11 students enrolled in special classes and special schools at the high school level will participate in the "2024 National Vocational Skills Competition for Students with Disabilities," which will be held for two days starting July 1 in Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam.
This competition, hosted by the Ministry of Education and organized by the Gyeongnam Provincial Office of Education, aims to improve the vocational skills of students with disabilities and provide opportunities for information exchange regarding career and vocational education.
A total of 228 students with intellectual and autism spectrum disabilities from special classes and special schools at the high school level nationwide will participate in this competition.
From Busan, 11 students will participate, accompanied by supervising teachers and parents who will support their participation. The city office of education has also prepared chartered buses to ensure the safe transportation and participation of the students.
The competition features six categories, including leather craft, product packaging, and office support. Each category is divided into two sections: special schools and special classes, resulting in a total of 12 events. The students from Busan will compete in 11 of these events, showcasing the skills they have honed.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education expects that this competition, which will serve as a platform for career and vocational education exchange among students with disabilities, will not only boost the participants' sense of achievement and confidence but also greatly contribute to spreading a culture of empathy for disabilities.
Ha Yoonsoo, Superintendent of the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, "The city office of education will spare no effort to support students with disabilities in realizing their dreams and talents through customized career and vocational education tailored to their interests and aptitudes."
