Democratic Party Gyeongbuk Provincial Committee Elects Jeong Sukkyung as Women's Chair, Kim Saerom as Youth Chair, and Kim Woojin as Senior Chair

The Democratic Party of Korea Gyeongbuk Provincial Chapter (Chairperson Lee Youngsu) announced on the 30th that it has completed the appointments of key party officials, including 15 standing committee chairpersons, as the winners for the Women’s, Youth, and Senior Committees?which went through a primary?have been decided.


The Gyeongbuk Provincial Chapter of the Democratic Party began accepting applications for chairperson positions in 10 national-level committees from September 3 to 10. For the Women’s, Youth, and Senior Committees, in accordance with the central party’s guidelines, an online vote among rights-holding party members was conducted from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the 27th.

As a result of the vote, Jung Sukkyung, former provincial Women’s Committee chair, was elected as Women’s Committee Chair; Kim Saerom, Andong City Council member, as Youth Committee Chair; and Kim Woojin, former journalist, as Senior Committee Chair. In addition, Lee Jaemin (former provincial Disabled Committee chair) was appointed as Disabled Committee Chair; Park Jongseon (chief deputy head of Yeongju Railway Workers’ Union) as Labor Committee Chair; Ko Pilho (secretary general of Sangju Civic Organizations Council) as Agriculture and Fisheries Committee Chair; Park Gijeong (Keimyung University) as University Student Committee Chair; Lee Kangtae (Seongju County liaison office director) as Livelihood Practice Committee Chair; Kim Sanghun (Yeongyang County liaison office director) as Social Economy Committee Chair; Kwon Haesuk (provincial Women’s Committee vice chair) as Small Business Committee Chair; Jeon Heejeong (former provincial Public Relations Committee chair) as Functional Committee Chair; Jeong Yongun (former Sangju-Mungyeong Regional Committee chair) as Local Autonomy and Decentralization Committee Chair; Bae Yonghan (Andong-Yecheon Regional Committee Senior Committee chair) as Education and Training Committee Chair; Jo Sangim (Yeongcheon-Cheongdo Regional Committee Women’s Committee chair) as Multicultural Committee Chair; and Jang Eunju (former central party deputy spokesperson) as Public Relations and Communication Committee Chair. The approval procedures for these positions were completed at the third executive committee meeting on the 25th.


The Gyeongbuk Provincial Chapter has formed its executive committee with about 30 members, including 13 regional committee chairs, Lim Gijin and Kim Kyungsuk (Gyeongbuk Provincial Council members), and Kim Sangmin (Pohang City Council member and Chair of the Basic Council Floor Leaders’ Council), and has launched an all-out effort to secure victory in the 2026 local elections.


Lee Youngsu, Chairperson of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Chapter, stated, “The 13 regional committees and each standing committee will continue their activities by region and field, and will communicate closely with party members to meet the expectations of the people of Gyeongbuk. Through these efforts, we will secure victory in the upcoming 2026 local elections and lay the foundation for a presidential election win.”
