Nowon-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that the '2024 Dancing Nowon Street Festival,' held over two days on September 28 and 29, concluded successfully.

The 2024 Nowon Street Festival ‘Dancing Nowon’ is a representative street parade-style festival held around Nowon Station. Now in its second year, ‘Dancing Nowon’ prominently featured the theme of ‘hip-hop,’ creating a noticeably younger atmosphere, filled with diverse programs for all age groups and dynamic street parades.

According to the organizers’ estimates, about 150,000 people took to the streets over the two days to enjoy the festival. This year, themed around youth and the future, the district organized a total of 150 booths divided into ▲Parade Zone ▲Dancing Theme Zone ▲Family Theme Zone, creating a well-structured event.

From 66 captivating parade competitions to a large-scale flash mob with Poppin Hyun Joon!

In the main parade competition of ‘Dancing Nowon,’ 66 teams showcasing various genres such as dance, martial arts, percussion, marching band, and hip-hop participated in the contest.

During the two-day parade, ▲local senior teams ▲children and youth teams ▲university and general teams each delivered dazzling performances filled with unique personalities, earning enthusiastic applause from the audience.

As a result of the spectacular performances by the 66 teams, the grand prizes were awarded to the ‘Meotjin Insaeng’ team in the local senior category, SA-Cheerleading Academy’s ‘Angel King’ in the children and youth category, and Hwaseong Science University Taekwondo Demonstration Team in the university/general category, respectively.

On the first day of the festival, September 28, at 7 PM, the energy on site was further elevated by a large-scale flash mob featuring 200 local choir members and Poppin Hyun Joon.

The festival was also enlivened by congratulatory performances from famous artists over the two days. On the first day, starting at 7:30 PM, HOOK, 1MILLION, Poppin Hyun Joon & Park Ae-ri, and EDM DJ Sancho took the stage to enthusiastic cheers from the audience. On the second day, September 29, Jinjo Crew, Dynamic Duo, DJ R2 & Josd brilliantly decorated the festival night, ending it with a bang.

In the All-Style 3on3 Battle, ‘Platon Crew’ won, and in the All-Style Performance Contest, ‘Wellboss’ took first place. In ‘B-On Top,’ the championship went to ‘Breaking Almighty,’ with ‘Invins Pleta Midnight Blue’ as runner-up.

In the Family Theme Zone, 22 experience booths including water gun play ‘Children’s Chokchok Show,’ police uniform experience, robot survival, and drone racing were held, along with a children’s EDM party, where children’s laughter united by ‘dancing’ never ceased. Additionally, special events with Avengers and Marvel heroes created memorable moments for visitors.

A festival featuring diverse food, brand fairs, and regional cooperation

Near the festival site, nine types of craft beer presented by the ‘Nowon Craft Beer Cooperative’ and ‘Broyhaus Vaneheim,’ a first-generation domestic craft beer brewery, were loved by many.

Also, 28 different brands and products including jewelry, desserts, and handicrafts were showcased, creating a space for regional cooperation harmonizing with the festival.

Meanwhile, the district made thorough efforts to ensure safe festival operations by managing the crowd carefully. Joint police and fire department meetings on crowd and festival safety management were held, and based on this, over 400 personnel including professional security services, volunteers, citizen police, neighborhood watch teams, and Nowon-gu staff were deployed at the festival site.
