As part of the Armed Forces Day event, a city parade will be held
and the world's heaviest warhead Hyeonmu 5 is scheduled to be unveiled
On the 1st of next month, the U.S. Air Force's supersonic strategic bomber, the B-1B Lancer, will fly over Seoul. This is the first time the B-1B Lancer will fly during the Armed Forces Day commemorative event. Known as the "Death Swan," the B-1B can carry up to 57 tons of armaments, boasting a significantly greater payload than other U.S. strategic bombers such as the B-2 (22 tons) or B-52 (31 tons). This is interpreted as a strong warning message against North Korea's complex provocations, including the release of trash balloons toward South Korea and ballistic missile launches.
According to multiple military officials on the 30th, in addition to the B-1B Lancer flight during the Armed Forces Day event held at Seoul Airport and the parade around Gwanghwamun to Sungnyemun, the Hyunmoo-5, considered one of the key assets of the Korean-style "3-axis system" responding to North Korea's nuclear and missile threats, will be showcased. The Hyunmoo-4, revealed last year, has a warhead weight of 2 tons, while the Hyunmoo-5, introduced this year, has a warhead weight of up to 8 tons. The Hyunmoo-5, with a world-class warhead weight, is a missile designed to destroy underground bunkers where North Korean leadership hides and is a means of massive retaliation (KMPR), one of the Korean-style 3-axis system components.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency will control traffic on some sections of Seoul city, starting from Seoul Airport, from 1:40 PM to 3:20 PM, when armored units including military personnel transport buses and K2 tanks move. After the parade, military personnel will regroup at Hyoja-ro and then return to their units, with traffic controls expected to be lifted sequentially by 7 PM.
