Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) recently announced the operation of ‘Hamkke Green Cafe Geumcheon-gu Office Branch,’ a coffee shop run by senior citizens, located on the first floor of the district office building, which has undergone recent interior renovations.

‘Hamkke Green Cafe,’ operated by the ‘Geumcheon Senior Club,’ is a senior employment project aimed at addressing senior employment issues and supporting their livelihood stability and retirement life.

The cafe’s operating hours are from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, and it is closed on Sundays and public holidays.

The cafe offers a variety of beverages including various coffees, fruit juices, and herbal teas, as well as desserts such as sandwiches and toast. It is prepared at affordable prices so that both employees and residents can use it without burden.

The cafe space was newly designed as a cultural complex in the form of a book cafe while renovating the first-floor lobby of the district office building. Not only employees but also residents can enjoy tea and reading, spending comfortable time here.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “We support the second life of senior citizens and expect this place to become a meeting spot with communication and empathy between generations beyond just a cafe.” He added, “We will provide quality jobs to seniors and socially vulnerable groups to help them become self-reliant and expand social participation.”

Meanwhile, the Geumcheon Senior Club, established in June 2019 as a dedicated senior employment agency, operates 22 business units including ‘Hamkke Green Cafe’ and ‘Good Store’ (convenience store), providing jobs to 1,505 people. This year, it has created new jobs such as ‘Good Laundry,’ ‘Good Lunchbox,’ and weekday lunch support at senior centers.
