September 29 to October 26, Every Weekend: Nature, Autumn Poetry, Travel (Camping), Adventure - 4 Themed Book Curation
Over 2,000 Books Available, Abundant Cultural Performances, Games, and Experiences to Enjoy
Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) will operate an outdoor library called ‘Reading Guro’ around the Anyangcheon Ecological Flower Garden from September 29 to October 26, welcoming the autumn season, the season of reading.
‘Reading Guro,’ operated for the first time this year, is a natural reading culture space where anyone visiting Anyangcheon can freely borrow and read books. It was established to stimulate residents’ interest and enthusiasm for books and to spread the reading culture within the community.
The most notable feature is that three festivals?‘Reading Guro,’ ‘Smart Garden Light Festival,’ and ‘Guro Garden Festa’?will be held simultaneously at the same place during the same period.
Visitors can enjoy light, flowers, and books all in one place, harmonizing with the beautiful scenery of Anyangcheon, promising greater enjoyment and inspiration.
Starting with the opening ceremony at 5 p.m. on October 5, ‘Reading Guro’ will feature about 2,000 books selected under four recommended themes (book curation) that were most loved by Guro residents throughout the year: ▲Nature ▲Autumn Poetry ▲Travel & Camping ▲Adventure, catering to various age groups.
Additionally, a play area for child visitors will be set up to bring them closer to books and make reading more enjoyable. Diverse cultural performances such as magic shows, puppet shows, and music concerts will also be offered, allowing visitors to choose according to their preferences.
‘Reading Guro’ will operate a total of eight times every Saturday and Sunday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., and anyone interested can participate.
Before full-scale operation, a pilot operation will be held on September 29 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Anyangcheon Water Playground.
For the safety and health of visitors, operating hours may be adjusted depending on weather conditions. Therefore, it is recommended to check the operation status, detailed schedule, and whether it will operate in case of rain on the Guro-gu Integrated Library ‘Lighthouse of Wisdom’ website before visiting.

A Guro-gu official said, “We added an emotional atmosphere to various programs to create a reading culture space for everyone,” and added, “We hope that reading will become a precious part of life through ‘Reading Guro,’ where you can enjoy both fun and relaxation simultaneously.”
