Chairman Kim Chiyong: "Rapid Changes in the Video Ecosystem, Seeking Ways to Adapt to the Times"
Exploring Creative Strategies Amid Broadcasting Technology Advancements and Platform Shifts
The Busan Broadcasting and Video Forum (Chairman Kim Chiyong, Director of External Cooperation at Dong-Eui University and Professor of Game Engineering) held the 2nd Global Broadcasting and Video Symposium on September 27 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Ocean Hall in the BNK Busan Bank headquarters in Nam-gu, Busan.
This event, hosted by the Busan Broadcasting and Video Forum and co-organized by the Busan Youth Policy Research Institute and the Busan Broadcasting and Video Forum, with support from the Busan Metropolitan Government, was attended by over 350 participants. Attendees included Kim Chiyong, Chairman of the Busan Broadcasting and Video Forum; Lee Sangho, Executive Director; Gong Jihun, General Director; Kim Deokyeol, Chairman of the Busan Youth Policy Research Institute; Lee Hyunho, CEO of Global Topnet; forum advisory board members and lead professors from corporations and universities; Ha Minyong, Principal of Kyungseong Electronics High School; Kim Changkil, Principal of Busan International Film High School; Ryu Chanam, Vice Principal of Busan Computer Science High School; Lee Gwangwon, Vice Principal of Daeyang High School; specialized high school lead teachers and students from the Busan Broadcasting and Video Forum; and Park Heungju, CEO of Busan Culture, among others.
With the theme "Creative Strategies and Prospects in Response to the Advancement of Broadcasting Technology and Platform Changes," the event featured congratulatory video messages from Busan Mayor Park Hyungjoon and National Assembly members Park Sooyoung, Jeon Jaesoo, and Lee Sungkwon.
Busan Broadcasting Video Forum Chairman Kim Chiyong is opening the 2nd Global Broadcasting Video Symposium hosted by the forum.
In his opening remarks, Kim Chiyong, Chairman of the Busan Broadcasting and Video Forum, stated, "Korean video content, along with K-POP and games, is a leading force in the Korean Wave. K-culture, as a product of Korea, not only creates added value but also plays a significant role in positively transforming Korea's image and promoting the excellence of Korean culture to the world."
Chairman Kim added, "Recently, the diversification of video content platforms, the emergence of new media content through AI convergence, and the advent of the one-person media era are rapidly transforming the video industry ecosystem. However, laws, regulations, and social awareness are not keeping pace with this speed. I hope this event will serve as a meaningful opportunity to seek strategies to actively respond to these trends."
On this day, Kim Daekyung, Professor of Media and Communication at Dong-A University, delivered the keynote speech on "Changes and Prospects in Media Communication." The expert session also featured Jeong Haewon, Professor of Advertising and Public Relations at Kosin University; Seo Hyeseung, Channel A CP (Producer of Steel Troops); Kim Hanna, KBS Voice Actor; and Dave, YouTube Creator.
The expert session covered topics such as: △Broadcasting, Video, and Advertising Communication and Creative Strategies △The Attitude of Creators in a Rapidly Changing Broadcasting and Video Environment △The Role of Media and Creators in Response to the Advancement of Broadcasting Technology and Platform Changes.
Professor Kim Daekyung of Dong-A University stated in his keynote speech, "YouTube has become the apex predator of the media ecosystem. Every day, viewers around the world spend a billion hours on YouTube, which is undergoing a co-evolution process with smart TVs."
Professor Jeong Haewon, speaking on "Changes in Social Media Content," said, "Anything can become content. While AI is currently a tool for content creation, it is expected to become a companion in the future." Seo Hyeseung, CP, followed with a presentation on "Successful Broadcasting Creative Strategies," noting, "The broadcasting advertising market is shrinking rapidly. To attract viewers, we are recruiting familiar cast members and producing seasonal series using trending IPs."
Voice actor Kim Hanna, in her talk "The Evolution of Voice: Coexistence of Voice Actors and AI," emphasized, "Ethical and legal safeguards are needed for coexistence with AI voices." Dave, the YouTube creator, in his session "Connecting in the Age of AI," stressed, "Although I was initially hesitant to use the negative features of artificial intelligence, I am now utilizing it appropriately for video support tasks."

The Busan Broadcasting and Video Forum, founded in September 2003, is an organization established to promote networking among industry, academia, government, and research sectors for the development of the video culture industry in Busan. More than 120 professionals and practitioners related to broadcasting and video content participate in the forum.
The Busan Broadcasting and Video Forum, the Busan Youth Policy Research Institute, and the Busan Center of the Audience Media Foundation will accept entries for the 19th Busan Video Contest from October 1 to November 3. The contest themes include: △The excellence of Busan's culture, art, and history △Busan as a global hub city △Busan's charm as the best tourist destination in Northeast Asia △Green smart city Busan and climate change.
