The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency concluded the "2024 Gyeonggi Startup Summit," held over three days from the 25th to the 27th at the Suwon Convention Center, with investment consultation results totaling 53 billion KRW.
The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency reported that over 12,000 visitors attended the '2024 Gyeonggi Startup Summit South Summit Korea,' held at the Suwon Convention Center for three days starting on the 25th. Additionally, about 220 business consultations and investment discussions worth approximately 53 billion KRW were conducted.
Hosted by Gyeonggi-do and co-organized by the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency and Spain's South Summit, this event was significant as it showcased global digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), metaverse, cloud computing, and unmanned mobile robots all in one place.
First, deep tech startups leading the AI sector, including Rebellion, Newbility, and 42MARU from 10 countries such as Spain, China, and India, set up 253 booths to present innovative technologies and solutions to visitors.
Moreover, at the meetup booths within the venue, over 70 domestic and international venture capitalists (VCs) conducted one-on-one in-depth consultations with startups, resulting in consultation achievements worth 53 billion KRW.
In particular, the shared mobility specialized startup M Company conducted investment consultations worth 2 billion KRW, with actual investment attraction highly likely.
Furthermore, during the event, more than 83 industry leaders from home and abroad participated in 54 thematic lectures and an AI concert. World-renowned experts such as Professor Dennis Hong from UCLA, Professor Choi Jae-sik from KAIST, and Director Susan Marshall from NVIDIA provided insights on the innovative potential and future prospects of AI technology, receiving great acclaim.
On the pitching stage, the finals of the 'Global IR Challenge' hosted by South Summit and the 'G-Star Audition' finals hosted by Gyeonggi-do were held.
Among the approximately 60 companies participating in the Global IR Challenge, five outstanding companies were selected, including VSL Labs (Israel), which provides AI sign language translation services for the hearing impaired, and Ditonic (Korea), which develops a spatiotemporal big data processing acceleration engine.
Additionally, the top companies in the G-Star Audition were Korea Housing Information from the Pre-League, GoQuba Tech in the Scale-Up League, and Softlanders in the ESG League.
Kang Sung-cheon, president of the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency, stated, "With this summit held for the first time in Gyeonggi-do, we confirmed that Gyeonggi-do is establishing itself as a hub of the global startup ecosystem. Going forward, Gyeonggi-do plans to continuously discover startups in innovative technology fields such as AI and robotics and strengthen support for their global expansion."
