Daegu City has decided to provide up to 1.2 million KRW in living stability support funds to victims of Jeonse fraud and will begin accepting applications from the 30th.
The city is offering these funds to those suffering from Jeonse fraud within the region to provide practical assistance and facilitate swift recovery for the victims.
Eligible recipients are those whose Jeonse fraud-affected residences are located in Daegu and who have been officially recognized as victims or equivalent under the Jeonse Fraud Victims Act. The amount of support varies depending on household size: 800,000 KRW for single-person households, 1 million KRW for two-person households, and 1.2 million KRW for three-person households.
However, individuals who have already received emergency living expenses under the Emergency Welfare Support Act or similar support under other laws, those who have received or recovered the full amount of their Jeonse deposit, or those whose victim status has been withdrawn, are excluded from eligibility for the living stability support fund.
Applications can be submitted in person, online (Government24 - Daegu Metropolitan City Jeonse Fraud Victim Support), or by mail starting from the 30th. Once an application is submitted, Daegu City will verify eligibility by checking for duplicate payments such as emergency welfare support and confirming the adequacy of required documents before disbursing the support funds.
This round of living stability support is available to those recognized as Jeonse fraud victims between June 2023, when the Jeonse Fraud Victims Act was enacted, and June 2024. Those recognized after July 2024 will be supported through the 2025 main budget, starting from January next year.
Additionally, starting next year, the city plans to strengthen its support for Jeonse fraud victims by implementing a relocation expense support program to help reduce the financial burden of moving.
Heo Jooyoung, Director of Urban Housing at Daegu City, stated, "We will continue to promote support programs to help tenants recover from the damage caused by Jeonse fraud, and we hope this will provide some assistance for the livelihood and housing stability of affected households."
