Gyeonggi-do Allocates 747,000㎡ of Industrial Complex Space to Yongin and Hwaseong Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office building.

Gyeonggi Province will begin full-scale supply of industrial complex land by allocating 747,000㎡ out of the total 8,382,000㎡ of industrial complex land for 2024-2026, which was assigned by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) last March, to two new industrial complexes in Yongin and Hwaseong.

According to Gyeonggi Province on the 29th, under the "Capital Region Readjustment Planning Act" and the "4th Capital Region Readjustment Plan (2021-2040)," the province receives allocations of industrial complex land in growth management zones from MOLIT every three years. Based on the three-year industrial complex land supply plan, the appropriateness of each project is thoroughly reviewed, and after MOLIT’s approval, the land is allocated to industrial complexes in cities and counties.

Among the newly allocated 747,000㎡, Yongin City is expected to foster regional specialized industries and revitalize the local economy by establishing an industrial belt linked with surrounding industrial complexes, while Hwaseong City is anticipated to strengthen regional competitiveness by guiding the demand for industrial facility sites to planned locations and securing infrastructure in non-urban areas.

The province will support the final confirmation of the allocated land for the two industrial complexes through the Gyeonggi Province Industrial Site Deliberation Committee after MOLIT’s approval, and plans to promptly allocate the remaining land based on demand from cities and counties and the supply plan.

In particular, to address the development gap between southern and northern Gyeonggi, more than 30% of the total land will be preferentially allocated to the northern region, and efforts will be made to allocate land to at least one industrial complex per city or county to ensure balanced regional development and fairness.

Earlier, in June, the province established the industrial complex land supply plan for 2024-2026 to allocate land promptly to prepared industrial complexes, considering essential site criteria, cities and counties’ own priorities, actual demand, public development, and key projects of the province and local governments.

Heo Seung-beom, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Economic Office, said, “We expect regional industries to develop and the economy to be revitalized through the conversion of individual site demand to planned sites by supplying industrial complex land,” adding, “We will strive to ensure that the allocation proceeds smoothly according to the industrial complex land supply plan.”

Meanwhile, in the previous three years (2021-2023), the province allocated 8,131,000㎡ of industrial complex land to 10 cities and counties including Anseong and Paju.
