Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, attended the opening ceremony of the Red Road Festival held at Hongdae Red Road at 4 p.m. on the 28th.
Now in its second year, the Red Road Festival began last year to announce the birth of Red Road to the world and has established itself as a representative festival of Mapo District, a mecca of K-culture and arts.
This festival features various attractions including cultural and artistic performances, K-culture experiences, tarot readings, canvas painting, busking, as well as a flea market and food zones spread across the entire Red Road area (R1~R6).
The festival opening ceremony took place at 4 p.m. on the special stage at Red Road R6, where the award-winning teams of the ‘2024 B-Boy World, Red Road International Street Dance Festival’ heated up the atmosphere with a pre-ceremony dance performance. Following this, Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, participated in a calligraphy performance wishing for the continuous development of Red Road and the happiness of Mapo residents.
The highlight of the opening ceremony and the Red Road Festival celebration was a spectacular stage featuring popular singers such as ‘Bultaneun F4’, ‘Jo Jeong-min’, and ‘Na Sang-do’, filling Red Road with the cheers of the audience.
In his congratulatory speech, Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, said, “Since the creation of Red Road, we have achieved miraculous success in revitalizing the commercial district and increasing tourists, which is truly rewarding. I thank the residents of Mapo who have worked together for the birth and development of Red Road, and I hope everyone enjoys the Red Road Festival with joy and passion.”
The 2nd Red Road Festival will continue until 7 p.m. on the 29th, and on the 29th at Red Road R1, the ‘Red Road Busker Festival 2024’ will be held for the first time this year to select the best busker.
