Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, roamed various sites of the Mapo-dong festivals that returned with autumn starting from the morning of the 28th.
The first stop was the ‘5th Hapjeong-dong Dream Festival’ held at the lawn square of Mapo Saebit Cultural Forest, where the soft harmony of the Mallangmallang Choir announced the start of the festival. The Hapjeong-dong Dream Festival featured various experience programs such as ▲Taekwondo ▲Juggling ▲Dance performances ▲Air bounce ▲Coffee and musical instrument experiences, along with a food market and bazaar.
In particular, the Hapjeong ‘The Book Day’ corner, where books donated by residents were sold and the proceeds sponsored, made the village festival even more meaningful.
Next, in Dohwa-dong, the ‘2nd Spring Summer Autumn Winter Festival’ was held under the subtitle ‘Let’s Walk Only on Flower Paths’ for all Mapo residents. Starting with exciting pungmul (traditional Korean percussion music), performances such as ▲Knife dance ▲Trot performance by singer ‘Jaeha’ ▲Taekwondo ▲Violin performance followed in succession.
Also, at the ‘Residents’ One Heart Harmony Event,’ Dohwa-dong residents prepared and performed songs and daebuk (large drum) performances themselves, highlighting the meaning of the dong festival where residents are the main characters.
In the afternoon of the 28th, Mayor Park Gang-su visited the site of the ‘Daeheungine Village Festival’ in Daeheung-dong, which means ‘Great Prosperity.’ The festival featured a unique street parade where the Daeheung-dong neighborhood leaders and the Hongdae pungmul troupe performed exciting pungmul music while walking around the neighborhood.
It was filled with various attractions such as ▲Children’s cheerleading ▲Busking performances ▲Violin ensemble by Changcheon Elementary School ▲Bubble magic show, and various experience programs like ▲Making keyrings using coffee grounds ▲Balloon art ▲Children’s playground were prepared, receiving great responses from family visitors.
The last dong festival Mayor Park Gang-su visited on the 28th was the Mangwon 1-dong ‘Mangwon-gyeong Festival’ site.
Held under the subtitle ‘Express Affection, Talent, and Passion,’ the Mangwon-gyeong Festival featured various street performances, resident talent shows, and recreational activities with direct participation from residents, fully embodying the festival’s purpose.
On that day, a total of about 2,000 visitors enjoyed the four dong festivals, and Mayor Park Gang-su repeatedly emphasized the prevention and management of safety accidents to ensure a joyful conclusion to the festivals while checking the sites.
Mayor Park Gang-su of Mapo District said, “I hope everyone enjoys delicious food and various performance programs with family, relatives, and neighbors,” adding, “Just as the autumn sky rises high, I will continue to make Mapo a happy city and a desirable place to live so that the happiness of Mapo residents can be fully enriched.”
