In the video, Woo Ji-won closed his eyes and lowered his head without saying much, shedding tears. Broadcaster Kim Sae-rom tilted her head back and wiped away tears with a tissue. Toward the end of the video, Woo Ji-won revealed, "We were separated for about two years," sharing the untold story that had not been publicly known until then.
Meanwhile, broadcaster Seo Yu-ri confidently disclosed her own divorce and pushed away a groom-shaped decoration on a cake with scissors. Lee Sang-ah shared an embarrassing experience related to her ex-husband. She said she was flipping channels and saw a program where her ex-husband was the MC, revealing a thrilling story of almost encountering him on the same show, saying, "I was invited to this program."
'Now Alone' is a reality observation program featuring celebrities who have become single again after divorce, reflecting on their changed lives and telling stories of living anew. The pilot episode previously featured actor Jeon No-min, Jo Yoon-hee, and announcer Choi Dong-seok. The regular series, starring new members including Woo Ji-won, will premiere on October 8 at 10 PM.
The Past Appearance of Woo Ji-won
Woo Ji-won gained great popularity as the "Prince of the Court" for his handsome looks and outstanding basketball skills since his days at Yonsei University. He married Ms. A, whom he met through an acquaintance in 2000, in 2002, and they had two daughters. The couple also appeared together on TV programs such as SBS's 'Star Couple Show, Honey.'
However, Woo Ji-won's image suffered a major blow when he was arrested in 2014 for domestic violence. At the time, Woo Ji-won, intoxicated at home, got into an argument with Ms. A and threw a fan and other objects. Ms. A reported him to the police as a domestic violence offender. Woo Ji-won was arrested on the spot by the police but was later released. He explained on his social media, "At my wife's urging, we drank together, and during the drinking, my wife continuously used provocative language. Our eldest daughter tried to stop it, but my wife's tone and behavior continued, and I lost control and threw the fan on the floor." He added, "I went into the room and fell asleep, but the police came due to my wife's report, and I ended up going to the police station. We were both somewhat intoxicated, so our judgment was impaired. Throwing the fan was clearly my fault. As a public figure, I did something I should not have done. I am truly sorry for causing concern," offering a public apology.
After retiring as a player, Woo Ji-won worked as a basketball commentator and engaged in broadcasting activities. He also won the Best Teamwork Award at the '2022 MBC Entertainment Awards' for the variety show 'It's Okay If We Don't Fight.' Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Woo Ji-won and Ms. A divorced by mutual consent in 2019 after 17 years of marriage.
