This tournament, hosted by the Korea Gateball Association and organized by the Gyeongbuk Gateball Association and the Uljin County Gateball Association, is expected to attract about 900 participants from 96 teams representing 15 cities and provinces.
The tournament will be held on 12 courts, with 8 teams per court divided into two groups, A and B, for a preliminary league. The top four teams from each group (A, B, C, D groups) will advance to the final league based on their rankings.
County Governor Son Byeongbok stated, "Gateball is often seen as a sport for seniors' leisure, but with the participation of the youngest player, an 8-year-old from the Uljin Jukbyeon team, it seems we are taking a step closer to popularization." He added, "I hope all teams will demonstrate outstanding teamwork and individual skills in this tournament, and we will continue to support amateur sports to provide enjoyment and health for all age groups who enjoy gateball."
Uljin County, known for having the lowest levels of ultrafine dust, is accelerating the development of sports infrastructure set against clear air and pristine nature, and plans to actively pursue sports marketing to usher in a new era of sports renaissance.
