This festival is organized to express respect and gratitude to the elderly in the community and to support their healthy and vibrant lives. A commemorative performance expressing respect and gratitude to the senior citizens, who are senior members of the local community, will also take place.
In the ‘Seongdong Senior Youth Singing Contest,’ six teams (total of eight participants) who passed the preliminary round will perform lively stages. A congratulatory performance by a guest singer will also be held, offering a special experience of sharing the stage with a singer usually seen only on screen.
At the outdoor plaza, booths promoting elderly welfare projects and programs run by Seongdong-gu and related organizations will be set up. At the Sowol Art Hall exhibition room, 56 creative works including watercolor paintings, calligraphy, and illustrations will be on display (September 25 ? October 2).
Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, "I hope the ‘Senior Citizens’ Grand Festival,’ held to mark the Month of the Elderly, will be a place of harmony where all elderly can enjoy together, and that it will be an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of respecting the elderly."
