President Yoon Suk-yeol met with Spencer Cox, Governor of Utah, USA, on the afternoon of the 27th, and the Presidential Office announced that they exchanged views on ways to expand cooperation between Korea and Utah and the direction of development of the Korea-US alliance.

President Yoon welcomed Governor Cox's first visit to Korea and expressed his gratitude for Governor Cox's role as a strong supporter of the Korea-US alliance, including attending the 70th anniversary ceremony of the Korea-US alliance at the Utah state level in October last year and proclaiming "Korea-US Alliance Day."

Governor Cox said that Utah is a long-time friend who fought together by dispatching about 21,500 Utah-born US military veterans during the Korean War, and as governor, he will spare no effort to strengthen cooperation between Korea and Utah as well as the Korea-US alliance.

President Yoon said that since Utah is focusing on fostering aerospace, bio, and advanced manufacturing industries and leading innovation in the United States, he hopes that cooperation between Korea and Utah in these fields can be deepened.

President Yoon also asked Governor Cox for his interest and support so that about 15,000 Korean residents living in Utah can contribute to the development of Utah as members of the local community.
