Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province announced on the 27th that Governor Kim Jin-tae visited the Integris headquarters in Billerica, Massachusetts, USA on the 26th (local time) and held a “Business Agreement Ceremony for the Establishment of a Gangwon-type Semiconductor Ecosystem and the Construction of a Global Cooperation System.”

Governor Kim Jin-tae Signs Business Agreement to Expand Investment with US Semiconductor Material Company Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Governor Kim Jin-tae visited the headquarters of semiconductor materials and components company Entegris on the 26th (local time) and signed a business agreement with CEO Bertrand Loy to expand investment in Entegris' Wonju Munmak plant, taking a commemorative photo.

This agreement was arranged to establish a global cooperation system by visiting the U.S. headquarters, following the investment agreement made last March with Integris Korea, which is located in the Donghwa General Industrial Complex in Munmak, Wonju. About 10 officials attended the ceremony, including Kim Jin-tae, Governor of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, Bertrand Loy, CEO of Integris, and Kim Jae-won, President of Integris Korea.


Integris is a global semiconductor company listed on the NASDAQ in the United States, boasting world-class technology in tubes and valves used to manufacture semiconductors, and supplies products to leading semiconductor manufacturers worldwide such as Samsung Electronics and TSMC.


In particular, Integris announced in this agreement its plan to expand investment to increase the production line of core semiconductor process components at its Wonju factory.


Governor Kim Jin-tae said, “Integris is the first semiconductor company in the province and the first company to sign a semiconductor agreement. It was also the first to announce Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province’s ‘Semiconductor Industry Promotion Strategy.’ I hope that Integris will continue to grow in Gangwon Province and expand its product lineup to become a comprehensive semiconductor materials and components company.”


Bertrand Loy, CEO of Integris, said, “Korea plays an important role in the global semiconductor industry, and Integris is fully committed to continuously supporting the Korean semiconductor manufacturing market. We are pleased to host Governor Kim Jin-tae and provincial officials here in Billerica, Massachusetts, where Integris headquarters is located, and especially grateful for Gangwon Province’s ongoing support.”

Governor Kim Jin-tae Signs Business Agreement to Expand Investment with US Semiconductor Material Company Governor Kim Jin-tae and the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province delegation visiting the United States held a dinner meeting with the executives of the North American Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Residents' Association Federation (1,200 members), a coalition of 11 regional residents' associations in the U.S. and Canada, as well as the presidents of the Boston and New York residents' associations. After presenting a new residents' association flag bearing the name of the newly launched Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, they took a commemorative photo.

Meanwhile, Governor Kim Jin-tae and the provincial delegation held a dinner meeting with the executives of the North American Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Residents’ Association Federation (with 1,200 members), a coalition of 11 regional residents’ associations in the U.S. and Canada, as well as the presidents of the Boston and New York residents’ associations.


Governor Kim explained the significance of the newly launched Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and its vision as a “Global City of Future Industries,” discussed ways to expand cooperation with overseas residents’ associations, and presented a new residents’ association flag bearing the name of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province.


President Ahn Byung-hak of the Federation welcomed Governor Kim Jin-tae’s visit to the U.S., expressed hopes for the best outcomes, and conveyed the overseas residents’ expectations and support for the province, suggesting that they find ways to maintain continuous exchanges.


In response, Governor Kim Jin-tae expressed gratitude, saying, “The overseas residents’ associations are truly the private diplomats of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province. Receiving the energy from the residents’ associations who came all the way to Boston to cheer us on, I will work even harder so that overseas residents can take pride in being Gangwon natives.”
