Graduate School of Technology Management Master's and Doctoral Students' Team Honored with Award
National Pukyong National University (President Jang Youngsoo) announced on the 27th that graduate students from the Graduate School of Technology Management have received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award in the private technology sector and the President of Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) Award in the public technology sector at the '2024 Korea Technology Commercialization Expo Business Model Competition (BM Competition)'.
The BM Competition is one of the main events of the Korea Technology Commercialization Expo, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology. It is a competition for undergraduate and graduate students in the field of technology management, where participants design and present business models utilizing technology.
The Drive Works team (Jung Kilyong, Kim Youngdae, Yoon Jihyun, Shim Mijeong, Park Cheolwoo; advisor Son Hosung) from the Graduate School of Technology Management at Pukyong National University presented on 'Non-contact Vibration Damping Drive Coupling Technology Commercialization' and received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award (Grand Prize) in the private technology sector.
Team leader Jung Kilyong said, "The main cause of industrial entrapment accidents in manufacturing is vibration in power transmission devices. With our non-contact coupling (V-Buster), more than 99% power transmission is possible, while also reducing vibration, noise, and dust. This not only lowers economic and time costs due to reduced maintenance but is also expected to improve productivity."
Additionally, the Pukyong DeepCrack team (Cho Woojin, Park Jaehong, Cho Yejin, Kim Taeho; advisor Son Jaehak) presented on 'Disaster Safety Management System for Monitoring Cracks and Collapse in Buildings Using Deep Learning Stereo Techniques' and received the President of Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology Award (Excellence Award) in the public technology sector.
Team leader Cho Woojin said, "To prevent damages from building collapse accidents, we use image deep learning technology and stereo technique-based crack measurement and interpretation technology to precisely measure cracks and diagnose the condition of structures. This enables us to notify of early warning signs before collapse, minimizing human casualties and social and economic losses."
Lee Chunsik, Dean of the Graduate School of Technology Management at Pukyong National University, promised, "We will continue to actively support the strengthening of the convergence technology commercialization ecosystem in the southeastern region by supporting various forms of convergence technology commercialization."
