‘Urban Garden’ Creation... A Festival Full of Attractions
Expectations for Metropolitan Area Landmark with GTX Opening
On the 26th, the opening ceremony of the 'LH-Paju Garden' Citizen Festival was held at Cheongryongducheon Waterfront Park (Unjeong Central Park) in Paju Unjeong 3 District. On the 26th, the grand opening ceremony of the 'LH-Paju Garden' Citizen Festival was held at Cheongryongducheon Waterfront Park (Unjeong Central Park) in Paju Unjeong 3 District.
The LH-Paju Garden Citizen Festival is a nationwide event organized as part of an urban garden project jointly promoted by Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) and Paju City. Since 2019, the annual LH Garden Show has evolved into the 'LH Urban Garden Project,' transforming into a citizen festival, and this event held in Paju Unjeong New Town marked its debut.
The Paju Garden Citizen Festival, held over three days from the 26th to the 28th, will feature various cultural performances and experiential programs. There will be fun activity booths such as stamp-collecting journeys, Paju Garden plant hunts, and photo booths for family visitors, along with diverse performances by the Paju City Art Troupe and local artists.
Additionally, this public garden urban park project draws attention as a more meaningful event by creating gardens involving both invited professional artists and direct citizen participation. The view of Cheongryongducheon and the vast Unjeong New Town from Unjeong Maru, located in the center of Unjeong Central Park, is expected to become another landmark.
Created with the purpose of building a city where daily life and gardens coexist, providing local residents with the benefits of an eco-friendly lifestyle and injecting new vitality into urban living, 'LH-Paju Garden' spans approximately 90,000㎡ around Cheongryongducheon Waterfront Park (Unjeong Central Park). It is located just about 300 meters from the GTX (Great Train Express) Unjeong Central Station, and with the line opening at the end of this year, it is expected to become a popular local attraction for families, couples, and friends as a picnic and outing spot near Seoul.
At the event, Kim Kyung-il, Mayor of Paju City, stated, “As this is the first Paju Garden Citizen Festival held in Unjeong New Town, we will do our best to ensure it is not a one-time event but an annual festival with diverse programs that serves as a space for harmony and communication with citizens.”
