Kyungdong Group (Chairman Choi Jinmin) held the '2024 Kyungdong Group Scholarship Award Ceremony' on the 27th at the main conference room of Gyeongsan City Hall, attended by over 130 scholarship recipients and their parents.
This award ceremony was organized by the Kyungdong Cultural Foundation, an affiliate of Kyungdong Group. Scholarships and certificates totaling 100 million KRW were presented to 70 students in the Gyeongsan area, with 2 million KRW awarded to each university student and 1 million KRW to each middle and high school student.
Choi Jinmin, Chairman of Kyungdong Group, stated, "We want to support young people who will lead the future so that they do not lose the opportunity for education and can have dreams and hope," adding, "We will continue to provide ongoing support so that local talent can enjoy equal educational opportunities."
Cho Hyunil, Mayor of Gyeongsan, said, "I sincerely congratulate those who have been selected as scholarship recipients and hope you will grow into key talents who will lead the future of Gyeongsan," and added, "I deeply appreciate Kyungdong Group for their generous support to the students."
Meanwhile, Kyungdong Group has produced about 50,000 scholarship recipients so far, following the philosophy of its founder and chairman Choi Jinmin: "At least a minimum education must be guaranteed, and everyone should have equal opportunities for education." In addition, through its cultural and welfare foundations, the group has been practicing consistent sharing management for 39 years, carrying out social contribution projects worth a total of 55.3 billion KRW, including support for academic research, social welfare facilities, and heating facilities.
