"Diamond watches for sale."
Former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate in the United States, has started selling watches.
On the 27th, former President Trump advertised "Trump Watches" on his social media platform, Truth Social. There are three models. The "Fight, Fight, Fight" model is priced at $499 (about 660,000 KRW), and the "Tourbillon" model is $100,000 (about 130 million KRW). The high-end model, made with 122 diamonds and 200g of 18K gold, is limited to 147 pieces. Trump said, "It will make a great Christmas gift," and provided a purchase site.
Trump earns income through licensing agreements that allow the use of his name and image on various products. Foreign media reported on the launch of the Trump watch, stating, "This is a method no presidential candidate has ever tried before, and it is the latest example of a former president making money by putting his name on products."
Last year, he signed a licensing agreement with a company selling non-fungible tokens (NFTs), earning $7.2 million (about 9.5 billion KRW). Earlier this year, through a publishing company co-founded by his son Donald Trump Jr., he sold "Trump Golden Sneakers" for $399 (about 520,000 KRW). He also sold a Bible themed around Trump.
Since last month, he has been selling "digital trading cards" in NFT form featuring his image for $99 (about 130,000 KRW). This week, he also launched the "Trump Coin," made of about 28g of pure silver. The front of the coin features his face, and the back is engraved with his signature.
